In 2007, while working on a virtualization management system that provided web based SSH access to virtual servers, Adam Lane and Dave Stevenson realized that there was a need for a secure web-based SSH client that could be used to connect to any server on the Internet. They had experienced times when they were unable to manage their servers because their employer had a restrictive firewall, or that there was no SSH client installed on a machine they were using.

At that time, there were a few web-based terminals that could be installed on a server, but they were hard to configure and not very secure. Building on the experience of providing SSH access to virtual servers, the GotoSSH service was created and has provided thousands of users with quick web-based access to their servers.

Today, GotoSSH handles over 200 megabytes per day of SSH traffic. We have an established track record of providing a secure and reliable web based SSH service to our customers, and are constantly working to improve the service.
